Happy Saturday and Happy Birthday to my friend Janine. Today I am sharing the birthday card that I have made for her. I shall be linking this up to Really Reasonable Ribbon’s challenge  #66 spring colours and ribbon.

The starting point for this card was the lovely lilac frame image from The Graphics Fairy . I’ve used the same image before, but in pink and blue. The lilac version is quite recent and I knew as soon as I saw it I had to use it. I’ve layered it up with some other purple toned papers and topped it off with a doilly that I coloured with Milled Lavender and Seedless Preserves distress ink.

I’ve added some lilac ribbon and then a butterfly cut from a Spellbinders die. I used a little lilac rose in the centre of the butterfly’s body and some tails of ribbon and RRR crochet lace.

To embellish I’ve popped on purple buttons and some more RRR white crochet lace trims.

Janine loves the colour purple – you’d never guess from this card would you?! Even though we’ve has some snow flurries this morning, I’m sure spring is on the way as this is the third card I’ve made recently featuring butterflies.
